Movin' on up....

Sean deserves a huge CONGRATULATIONS! Sean got an offer for an amazing job last week, as many of you already know by now. We just couldn't be happier for this opportunity, even though it means a lot of big changes. Sean leaves for Utah in two weeks, and Griffin and I have to stay behind until I finish school in October. I know this will be hard on all of us, but I'm sure the time will pass quickly and we have lot's of love and support in both states.

Most of all, I really want to recognize Sean in this post. He has put his whole heart and soul into our family, and has made so many sacrifices so that I can pursue my dreams. He is the most incredible dad to Griffin, and he fills our house with so much joy and energy. We are so proud of Sean, he truly deserves this opportunity to have a career that allows him to use all of his incredible gifts. We are so proud of him.

The Amazing RONDO!

Well, we finally did it. We traded in the Taurus for the amazing Rondo! Naturally, in true Sean and Liz style there had to be an element of drama involved. We went out there Tuesday night in the pouring rain just to check things out. (thanks to Meghan for babysitting at the last minute) We really liked the Rondo, even though we thought the name was totally goofy.

So, after thinking about it for a night, we called back and made an appointment to complete the process of buying it. After we dropped Griffin off at the sitter, Sean and I were filled with joy and excitement. Soon, however, that feeling would turn to dread as the temperature in the Taurus started rising. We were on the freeway, about 5 exits away from the dealership, and the car shimmied and shook, then started smoking!! We couldn't believe it, there was no way we were breaking down when we were this close to getting a new, reliable car! Sean got off on the nearest exit, pulled into a gas station,  let the car cool down, and topped off the coolant. We took the side roads the rest of the way to the dealership to keep our speed down and avoid overheating again. This was a tense drive, I wasn't sure if we would make it!

We managed to pull in to the dealership without smoke pouring out from under the hood. After a long afternoon of waiting around for finance guys, and talking about government conspiracies with our ADHD, crazy-Christian salesman named Red, we finally bought the AMAZING RONDO! This was my first experience buying a car, I feel like such a grown up. It's a great little cross-over car with extra seating in the back, lot's of safety features, and so many cup holders I can hardly believe my luck!

When we got home we let Griffin play around in it (not too much, we don't want to destroy the Rondo on the first day!) He loved pulling all the handles and turning all the knobs, he even made the horn go "beep, beep!" which he loved saying.

So, that puts us one step closer to making our move to Utah. Sean will drive the amazing Rondo out there, then fly back in October to drive with Griffin and me when we move. It feels good to have a least one of the million things we have to do checked off the list!

Just when you didn't think he could get any cuter!
Griffin has learned how to say, Please! Well, it sounds more like "Peas!" and he only says it if we tell him too, but nothing is more satisfying than watching your toddler reaching for the animal crackers, saying, "Peas!", and giving you a big old grin.

Other funny things he does: he growls when you growl with him, he makes car sounds when he plays with cars, he makes his animal crackers walk on the table, he will only eat blueberries.

How fitting that the first picture I post of Griffin is totally goofy! Griff is really in the stage of mimicking everything we do. He brushes his hair, puts on sunscreen, you name it. So, the other morning he was following Sean around and Sean looked down to see Griffin with a Q-Tip sticking out of his ear. Naturally, we grabbed the camera and encouraged him to put one in the other. He was quite pleased with himself, until they fell out and he moved on to trying to brush his teeth.
( a note for all you concerned mothers- I made sure the Q-tip wasn't in too far. There were absolutely no damaged eardrums)
First, it was Myspace. Then it was Facebook. And now look at me, my very own blog. I feel just a little creepy just saying it, "Blog". Those of you who know me well know that there are certain words I don't like. Blog ranks up there with "moist".

Moving on, Maybe I always thought my life wasn't interesting enough for a blog. But life with Griffin and Sean certainly keeps things interesting. Maybe I'm worried that people will tease me and call me a dork. Then I realized I'm pretty much a dork anyway. Besides, Anna and Marisa both have blogs, and they're still cool.

I guess having a blog is really the thing to do if you're a twenty-something, especially if you have a baby. Well, that fits me. Mostly, I see this as a great way to keep all of my friends and family up to date on my crazy life, and that's reason enough for me. Please be patient with me as I try to find my groove with this thing. I hope you all find me as amusing as I find myself, and you know you can always count on lot's of pictures of Griffin.

So, that's it for my first post. I don't have a special sign-off yet, maybe I should work on something. How about this for now....

Peace! I'm outta here!
